Who Are We?

In 2002, J Smooth Salsa began with the purpose of offering professional, academic-level salsa lessons for those unsure of whether salsa dancing is for them, at a minimal cost. JSS has offered free salsa lessons since August 2002 for thousands of people and has contributed to the community donations and services for just as long.

On March 16, 2012, J Smooth Salsa offerred its last Salsa lesson to the San Jose community due to financial challenges. March 16 marks exactly 9 years and 6 months that it was open as the very first lesson was on August 16, 2002.

The San Jose Salsa community was barely anything when JSS started and is now rich with dance instructors and events. In March 2013, J Smooth Salsa realized that it needed to go where it was needed most, and moved its classes to Sebastopol, Calif. in Sonoma County where the salsa community is still very small in the Northern Bay Area. Teaming with "Move 2 Change Studio" in Sebastopol, Calif., J Smooth Salsa offers beginning and intermediate salsa lessons.
