OFFICIALLY CLOSED (until some form of notice)

I wanted to follow-up with you on the status of Miraido Studio. Unfortunately due to new proposed terms of agreement with the building's property management, we will no longer be continuing business at the location of 550 North 6th St.

On March 16, 2012 we suspended all of our lessons due to financial limitations. The lessons suspended were Tae Kwon Do, Zumba, Salsa, and Bachata lessons. This suspension period also included a remodeling plan that was estimated to last for 3-6 months. The plan was to have a new busines plan and money in the bank to keep us going when we were ready to open.

On September 16, 2012, after five months we have been unable to reach our goal. The space which was known as Miraido Studio is now unavailable, and will continue to be unavailable for an unspecified amount of time. We currently do not have a plan in-motion to re-open elsewhere in San Jose.

The name Miraido Studio will retire but the name "J Smooth Salsa" will continue in its place. The website, Facebook fan page, Twitter, and Yelp will continue to stay active. Since I am still an active dance instructor in the community, it is only fitting to say we are still offering dance lessons. We are still the most rated, and highly rated salsa dance establishment in San Jose. With 50 votes and a rating of 4.5/5 stars, we rank better than any establishment in the bay area. (we are still 40 reviews ahead of any other 4.5/5 star establishment in the bay area).

I apologize for keeping your hopes up these last few months. I had every intention and dream to re-open Miraido within this year, however it looks like it may take longer than expected. It was really a pleasure to have you with me at Miraido, and it was a bigger pleasure to offer a past-time to our community.

I have answers to some questions that I anticipate may be asked below:

Q: Will the website continue to be available?
A: Yes! The website will continue to stay online. We will still have a calendar that indicates where we'll be teaching at since I am still teaching as a guest instructor at various events. The calendar will let you know where I'll be at next.

Q: The Annual beach party. Will that cease to exist?
A: No. We will continue to have the annual beach party in Santa Cruz. We did not have one for 2012 because we were involved with a number of events in July and August which limited our availability. We'll have it again next year and will announce it in our mailing list and social media.

Q: Will your Twitter and Facebook account close?
A: No. Those will stay open and available. Moving forward I will post videos of any lessons I teach so that others can continue to learn.

Q: Do you plan to start lessons regularly anywhere else in San Jose?
A: Unfortunately no there is no plan to restart lessons in San Jose. I've relocated to the north bay but do plan to start dance lessons again in the north bay at some point.

Q: Are you absolutely sure you won't start lessons in San Jose?
A: Well. Actually, I do have tucked in the back of my head to start lessons in san Jose. But that would require that I have more free time than what I have now. When I do have more free time I think I will restart lessons in San Jose.

Q: Can I stay in touch with you? Not with J Smooth Salsa but with Jimmy Bui?
A: You can find me on facebook at If you request to add me as a friend please send me a message letting me know more about you. Although I may not remember every single face that came to Miraido, I can try!

Q: Where can I find you dancing if I wanted to say hello?
A: You can still find me at Jesse Jazzy Jez's annual events as a dance instructor and DJ (President's Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day Dance Events) Now that I reside in the north bay, you can find me at times at Impala in San Francisco on Sundays, Cafe Cocomo's at times on Wednesdays, and some of the north bay venues. I Am also an active member of the annual San Francisco Bachata Festival and Reno Bachata Festival, either as a judge or web producer at the events.

Q: I have more questions to ask. Where can I ask them?
A: You can still email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
