Four years later, I can recall more than a dozen Latino recording artists, thanks in large part to XM Radio, Batanga Radio and cable programs such as On Demand videos and Music Choice. I can recognize many of the artists who appear on music awards programs and I can now request my favorite songs by name, in Spanish, at Salsa Night parties.
A few months ago, I proclaimed to a few friends that local DJs should play Luis Enrique’s “Yo No Se La Manana” and now it’s become standard on Salsa Night.
If I could DJ for part of the night, here would be my other top picks:
“Dile Al Amor” and “Su Veneno” by Aventura (Bachata).
“Para Un Poco” by Gilberto Santa Rosa/Roberto Montana.
“Amor Quedate” by Jencarlos.
“Recuerdame” by Marc Anthony/La Quinta Estacion.
“Quitate Tu Pa’ Ponerme Yo” by Eddie Dee/12 Discupulos.
“Si Tu Te Vas” by Rey Ruiz.
“Mis Tacones” by Albita.
“La Nueva Generacion” by Ng2.
“No Me Abandones” by Tito Rojas.
“Frukos Bugaloo” by Frukos/Tesos.
“El Dia Que Te Vayas” by Rubby Perez.
“Yira, Yira” by Jerry Rivera.
Keep an ear out for those songs or sample them on iTunes and let me know what you think…
