Entertainer Hugo Salcedo will inject the Latino culture into the second annual dance event.
Latin dancers from around the world and Australia will converge for the three-day event of parties, performances and workshops, from Friday, March 26, to Sunday, March 28.
``This event is a really good concept, a little bit more of Latin culture, dancing, more mambo, Brazilian styles. It’s a dance festival for people who love latin,’’ festival director Salcedo, of Croydon, says.
Cuban and Colombian rhythms, Caribbean beats and New York vibes will echo through the Arkaba and Norwood Concert Hall, prompting partygoers to shake in exciting Latin styles from salsa and samba, to Afro-Cuban rumba and cha cha cha.
Kicking off in 2009 with a roaring success, Salcedo couldn’t be happier that Adelaide has embraced his love for Latino dancing and music.
Last year’s event saw many sold out shows with organisers this year putting on extra performances due to public demand.
``It was a huge surprise. It’s a very positive upgrade from last year.’’
Relocating his family from Colombia 11 years ago, the DJ and musician had a vision to introduce his passion down under.
``When we moved here, there was nothing,’’ he says.
``Latin has been around for so long around the world, so why not Adelaide?
``We started to make bands and events and there’s been a massive growth which is impressive.
``It’s a lifestyle. I’m passionate for this. It’s something I can’t explain, it comes from my heart.’’
Workshops will be held at the Arkaba Hotel on March 26 and 28 and the gala evening is at the Norwood Concert Hall on March 27.
