The 6th Annual Salsa Festival is just around the corner. Save the date:  April 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Pacana Park.

This year over 8,000 area residents are expected to be in attendance to enjoy an evening of free family fun and entertainment, including bands and kids activities, plus the opportunity to sample some delicious and sizzling salsa entries.

Contestants can enter their best mild, best hot or most unusual salsas. There is no cost to enter the competition, and cash prizes will be awarded, including $1,000 for the best overall salsa, as well as $500 each for best mild, best hot and most unusual salsas.

Amada Landeros is the salsa chef to beat. She and her team have won for best overall salsa for two years running and best mild salsa for three years in a row.

Registration packets, food vendor registration, and other information will be available soon online or by contacting Brenda Campbell at 520-316-6963. Sponsorships are available; call Campbell for information.

Want to promote your business or your craft? The Maricopa Chamber of Commerce is registering for non-food vendor booth space. Registration packets for the BuyMaricopa Zone can be downloaded here. Online registration can be completed at www.maricopachamber.com.
