You can dance the night away for a worthy cause — money for college scholarships.
The Rockland County Police Hispanic Society is holding its 7th Annual “Salsa into the Summer” on Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight at Town & Country Caterers, 922 S. Route 9W, Congers.
Group leaders say the proceeds will go to the group’s scholarship fund that provides $1,000 college awards to a high school seniors of Latin heritage seeking a career in law enforcement or related field.
The group has provided more than $20,000 in scholarships over the years. In previous years, the money went to non-profit agencies like Meals on Wheels, ASPIRA, and St. John’s Church in Piermont. Because of the tough economic times, the group says it’s focusing on the scholarship fund this year.
The dance — with Hors d’oeuvres, beverages and an open bar from 8 to 9 p.m. — is $35 per person or $40 at the door.
For more information, call Enrique Pabón 845-638-5150 or Elsa Seguinot at 845-642-4579.
The Rockland County Police Hispanic Society formed in 1996 and its membership consists of active and retired law enforcement officers,of Hispanic descent who reside or are employed in Rockland.
