About the Teachers:
Umesh Lakshman (https://www.facebook.com/umeshlakshman) is the current captain for the Montuno Dance company Amateur team and frequents the local salsa hot spots for social dancing. He has spent over 2 years under the the tutelage of Isidro Corona and Ariel Lehaitre, San Francisco Salsa Congress and US Salsa Open champions, where he rapidly developed as a dancer and currently instructs at various salsa classes in the San Francisco Bay Area. His proudest accomplishments to date was winning the Advanced Showcase at the 2011 US Salsa Open Championship.
Kimberly Bringas' got her first taste of salsa dancing during college and has been hooked ever since. Over the last five years, she has been part of several dance teams, most recently the Rica Salsa Dance Company in San Francisco. She created the FIRST EVER salsaflashmob for the San Jose Jazz Festival in 2010. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning 2nd place at the San Francisco Salsa Congress 2010 Amateur Jack and Jill Contest. Furthermore, while she accomplished her goal of being able to dance salsa On1, On2 and On5, she believes there is always more she can learn. When she isn't out social dancing, she is an assistant dance instructor to Tianne Frias, World Champion Salsa dancer, and looks to constantly inspire new salsa dancers.
Her motto for dance:

Pricing:
$10 entry for the evening for the workshop
Recommended to wear comfortable workout clothes.
Also recommended to wear dance shoes or leather soled shoes.
Day 1: October 21st: Fundamentals of Salsa: Foundation
Lead and followers separated:
- Basic rhythm. Simple exercise that teaches how to properly bend the knees and push on the inside of the ball of the foot.
- Forward Basic
- Side Basic
- Robot arm exercise. Leaders and follower connect right hand to right hand. Teach the concept of leaders leading with their chest and follower being light and receptive to touch.
- Teach open stance vs closed stand position
- Forward basic and Side basic
- Cross body lead
- Follower's Right hand turn
- Leader's Right hand turn
- Cross body lead with inside turn
- Simple patterns
Day 2: October 28th: Fundamentals of Salsa: Footwork and Musicality
- Re-visit concept of basic rhythms. Hear the music (without moves) and understand the make up of the song.
- Understanding when to do footwork
- Simple footwork/Shines pattern for both Ladies and Men
- Ladies and Mens Styling
- Putting it all together
