Men & Women's Shines

Men's Shines

1: Left foot, front cross step with slide back then right foot pops out to right side.
2: Right foot, forward heel tap.
3: Right foot, right side toe tap.

5: Right foot, rear toe tap.
6: Right foot, right side heel tap.
7: Left foot, left side-pop from right foot coming to center.

&: Bring left leg in to prepare for forward basic.

123 : basic.


Women's Shines

1: Right foot, basic.
23: Right shoulder roll-back, right side step. (follower brings self to center, and steps to the right while rolling the right shoulder back.)

56: Hip roll, to the left. Roll the hip in a counterclockwise fashion. On 6 the hip is rolled to the right.
7: Head rotation to the left, with arms coming out like butterfly. Right foot lifts off the ground and up, ready to step back.

1: Right foot, basic step.
23: Basic.

Butterfly Hold to Wrap to Hammerlock

Butterfly Hold to Wrap to Hammerlock
Start - Challenge position. (No holds position.)

123 - Single cross-hold to butterfly, side slot.
(On 1, hold follower's right hand with right. On 2, bring that arm behind follower and follower will turn. On 3, hold follower's left hand with left while follower is facing towards side from slot.)
567 - Front, Inside turn wrap.
(Turn follower in with right hand, both hands still connected to follower. Wrap follower, lead goes back to facing forward within slot.)
123 - Check.
(On 1, pull follower left. On 2, pull follower right. On 3, let go of left hand hold and pull follower into hammerlock. Right hand connected to follower's right hand.)

Inside Turn Wrap-Check to Outside Turn Wrap-Check to Butterfly Position
Start - Cross hold.

123 - Crossbody prep.
567 - Crossbody inside turn w/ linked hands to wrap.
(Lead pulls follower into a left turn, with the right hand, until the follower faces away from them. The right arm is brought over the follower's head during the turn in order to complete the turn.)
123 - Half outside turn w/ linked hands to wrap.
(Lead turns follower into a right turn, until the the follower faces away from the lead again. Lead has to bring left arm over follower's head to complete the turn.)
567 - Unwrap without moving to butterfly position.
(The lead brings the right hand hold off the follower then the left hand off the follower to end in a butterfly position.)
123 - Outside travelling turn across slot.
(Lead pulls the follower into a right turn across them to end on the right side of the lead.)
567 - Scoop for crossbody lead.

Lead Wrap to Butterfly Check

Lead Wrap to Butterfly Check
Start - Open hold.

123 - Lead half right turn to wrap.
(With the left arm hold up and the right at waist level, the lead half turns right into a wrap hold with the follower.)
567 - Neck lock, lead's right arm.
(The lead brings the right hand behind the head, with the follower's left hand still connected for a neck lock. Then the lead brings the left hand hold behind the head and then to the side so that the left arm is out to the left side and down low.)
123 - Butterfly check.
(Bringing the follower to the right side, the lead left turns the follower, while in a left broken-arm, so that they end in front of the lead in a butterfly position.)
567 - Outside turn.
(Lead pulls the follower into a right turn back into the slot.)
123 - Basic.

Butterfly Walkaround

Butterfly Walkaround
Start - Reverse Cross hold.

123 - Open break, inside turn check w/ linked hands.
(After the open break, the follower is turned left and towards the lead. The lead stops the follower by keeping the right hand hold at the follower's right shoulder.)
567 - Push back follower followed by lead left turn for shadow.
(After pushing the follower back into the slot, the lead half turns left to face away from the follower. Hands are at the shoulder level but off the shoulders.)
123 - Lead side-step w/ left arm to right side.
(The lead steps to the left while bringing the arm to the right side. This will allow the follower to walk to the front of the leader.)
567 - Follower walks forward for butterfly position in front of the lead.
123 - Head loops. Left arm over to the right shoulder, release. Right arm to left shoulder, release.
567 - Outside travelling turn, pushed by lead's right hand on the left shoulder.
(Follower turns away from the lead.)
123 - Basic step.

Butterfly Walk-Around

Butterfly Walk-Around
Start - Open hold.

123 - Open break w/ both hands to open flare.
(Arms held out like wings.)
567 - Walkaround.
(Walk clockwise with arms held open.)
123 - Basic.
(Bring arms back into open hold.)

Right Hook Turn to Walk-Around s & Flared Basic, w/ Finger-Tip Holds
Start - Open hold.

123 - Basic.
567 - Right hook turn, to right wrist hold by leader.
(After leader turns, leader holds the follower's right wrist from below with a leader's hand position that is thumb down.)
123 - Open break, so that follower ends to the right of the leader, but still in an open hold. Leader moves their right hand to the follower's right arm, only the finger tips the follower and not the palm.
567 - Walk-around, by leader.
(In three counts the leader walks clockwise around the follower, while still finger holding the follower's right, until ending to the left of the follower. Leader reconnects right hand hold for open hold. The leader's 7th count is with the weight on the left foot while the right foot is mid-air, ready to step back.)
123 - Flare basic step in butterfly position.
(The leader and follower both do back steps with their right feet however the leader gently pulls the follower's right arm while pushing on the left arm to cause the follower to go into a right hip turned basic step with hip flare, in a arm position that is called a butterfly position. On count 3 leader and follower's hips are back to facing forward.)
567 - Outside turn.
(Leader pulls the follower with their right hand so that the follower goes into a travelling right turn away from them. leader steps forward with the right foot to stay connected with the follower.)
123 - Basic.

Tunnel Series (Within Slot)

Tunnel Series (Within Slot)
Start - Open hold.

123 - Open hold to lead right, broken left-arm turn, with linked hands.
(While keeping the left arm at waist level, the lead turns right and faces the follower, with arms still connected. The lead is also in a position to cross-body the follower.)
567 - Cross-body, inside turn to butterly pose, lock.
(Positioning: From the proper cross-body position, the lead will face 180 degrees from that point by count 7. The follower will be facing the same direction as in the beginning of the move.)
(The lead brings the follower into a cross-body with a left turn. With the position described above, the lead maintains the left-arm broken arm while the left arm is used to put the follower into a butterfly position.)

123 - Outside turn to back neck lock.
(Positioning: The lead turns right 90 degrees to face the same direction as the follower. The follower faces the same direction as before.)
(While maintaining the broken arm, the lead turns the follower right with the right hand until the follower faces the same direction again. The right hand hold is looped onto the follower's right shoulder.)

567 - Tunnel series (Entry & exit).
(Positioning: The lead and follow remain facing in the same direction.)
(The lead pushes the follower down and back so that the follower ends up behind. On 7, the lead then pulls the follower back through the arms on the left side.)

123 - Lead walk-around to face follower.
(While the follower is on the lead's left, the lead lets go of the right hand hold and walks, right, around the follower to face the follower by count 3. The lead then holds the follower's right with the right hand.)
567 - Open break to head loop.
(The lead open breaks the follower and does a head loop over the follower. The lead remains close to the follower.)
123 - Forward basic or cross-body lead set-up.

Start - Open hold.

123 - Basic.
567 - Outside turn with linked hands.
123 - Open break to Back-2-back butterfly.
(From the last hold, The lead steps forward and turns to face left so that they can pull the follower back-2-back with self.)
567 - Inside turn.
(The lead releases the left hand hold and pulls the follower into a left turn so that they end in front of the lead's right side. The lead turns to face the follower.)
123 - Basic step.
